What happens when you stop checking in with yourself?

Listen to the voice inside you that keeps reminding you there is more for you.

For me, 365 Days of Me is a way to stay connected with me and my goals.

And apparently, the minute I stopped investing in the program, I stopped investing in myself and my goals, too.

Here I sit this morning realizing the last time I was here was almost a month ago—and my mental and physical health are a mess.

Yep. I let life get in the way again and forgot that I was a priority.

The thing is, that inner voice never stopped yelling at me. I just kept ignoring it.

I'm tired.
My body hurts.
I have this, that and the other to do...

You know—all those excuses we use that keep us tied up and stuck exactly where we are.

Yesterday, I started untying them.

This past weekend, my blood sugar was 397.

Last week, I went to the Free Clinic for my work physical, and as the doctor was asking me questions, my diabetes came up. I told her about my recent struggles and, of course, the plan was, "Let's get you on some pills!"

My resistance was met with a pretty simple reality: if I keep going the way I've been going, I'm risking damage to my kidneys.

And then what?

So I filled the prescription.

But it still sits here, untaken.

I just can't bring myself to take it yet. I've tried medications before, and they made me sicker. The side effects were horrible, and I'm not eager to go down that road again.

I KNOW I can make changes.

But knowing isn't enough.

I have to commit to doing them.

And for me, that looks like showing up for THIS every single day.

I have to invest in myself and in my 365 Days of Me program because this keeps me connected to myself. It keeps my goals in the front of my mind instead of allowing them to slowly disappear into the background.

Most importantly, it keeps ME a priority in my own life.

I can do this.

I HAVE done it before.

My first trip through 365 Days of Me was about mental healing. This time, my focus is physical.

And damn, this one is harder for me.

But it's also incredibly important.

So yesterday, I recommitted to myself and to my 365 Days of Me program.

And here I am this morning, keeping that commitment.

If You Need to Recommit Too...

Maybe you've wandered away from yourself lately, too.

Maybe the things you KNOW make you feel better have slowly disappeared from your days. Maybe you've been telling yourself you're too busy, too tired, too overwhelmed, too far behind—or that you'll get back to yourself when life settles down.

You don't have to wait.

You don't have to fix everything today.

Just find one thing that reconnects you with yourself and do it today.

Then show up again tomorrow.

Pay attention to that little voice that's been trying to get your attention. Instead of beating yourself up for how long you've ignored it, listen to what it's telling you now.

You are allowed to recommit in the middle of the mess.

You don't have to go back and start over.

Start right where you are.

Journal With Me

  1. Where have I stopped showing up for myself lately, and what has changed because of it?

  2. What excuses have been keeping me tied up, and which one can I start untying today?

  3. What is one commitment I can make to myself today—and what would keeping that commitment actually look like?
