It's strange how easily our own health becomes the thing we keep pushing to tomorrow.

So last night as I lay in bed, I was thinking about my TO DO list.

You know… that never-ending thing that keeps me rushing through life.

And I promised myself that today would be slow and intentional.
I would move easy through the day and actually enjoy it.

The shop can wait.
The dishes can wait.
The vacuuming can wait.

Today is about ME and MY HEALTH.

But before I even opened my eyes this morning, my TO DO list was already banging around in my brain.

“Hey, get up. We’ve got shit to do and no kids here to stop us.”

That rushing feeling.
That internal alarm screaming hurry hurry hurry.
People are waiting.
Things need done.
You’re behind.

And then my thoughts shifted back to my original plan for today.

Slow and intentional.
Putting myself first.
Making my health the priority.

I’m driving to Omaha for a vitamin IV bag today.

My first thought?
“You shouldn’t even go. You don’t have money to grocery shop right now.”

But then I had to stop myself.

The IV is already paid for.
This is part of taking care of myself.
And honestly? I don’t need to guilt myself out of taking care of myself because I can’t grocery shop today.

My next thought was:
“Fine. Get up early, get your bag, get home, and work on the shop.”

Ok… maybe.
But ONLY if that is actually what I feel like doing today.

Maybe I’ll make that calamine soap I’ve been dying to make.
Maybe I’ll make some greeting cards that have been floating around in my head.
Maybe I’ll thrift a little.
Maybe I’ll come home and create.
Maybe I’ll do absolutely nothing productive at all.

RELAX, JASI.

SLOW DOWN.

Let the day come as it comes.
Let it flow naturally.

Stop rushing your life away.

Enjoy the little moments today.
The coffee.
The drive.
The music.
The creativity.
The quiet.

Not every second of your existence has to be earned through exhaustion.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is finally stop running long enough to hear yourself think.

Journaling Prompts:

  1. What am I constantly rushing toward, and what would happen if I slowed down for one day?

  2. In what ways do I put everyone else’s needs ahead of my own health or well-being?

  3. What does a truly slow, intentional day look like for me without guilt attached to it?
